The museum at Bath has a very nice costume library, you can get an
"invitation" to get in as I recall. Also, if there's a particular
garment or type of garment you'd like to examine up close & in person,
you can ask for an appointment. They'll put your treasure out on a
table for you to photograph, chart or whatever. Pretty cool! Back in
the day, no serious academic credentials were required. Dont know if
that's changed in the last few years.

Subject: [h-cost] London calling?

Does anyone have any recommendations for things not to be missed in
London or Bath for lovers of historic costume? After the V&A, the
National Portrait Gallery and the Bath Museum of Costume, that is. Other
museums? Best places to buy period-like fabric? Fabric bargain spots?

Any and all information gratefully appreciated.
