The database issue was not "resolved" by hiding errors. If installation cannot complete without errors, there is obviously a problem and I would never expect the software to work correctly. Case in point, there is a database table missing, indicating that installation did not complete successfully.
Like I said, I would *highly* suggest starting from scratch and addressing the issues as they come. Starting from the point you're at now is only going to be an endless series of attempts to manually patch holes that shouldn't exist in the first place. Have you asked your hosting company to take a look at the head.php issue for you? That's the kind of thing they're likely to know right off hand, since they're familiar with the exact configuration of their servers.
