Doug Cutting commented on HADOOP-1066:
--------------------------------------
I think "learn about" link should point to a documentation overview page, not
just to the top-level wiki. This should include the FAQ, the javadocs and the
wiki. The wiki alone should not the authoritative documentation, should it?
Should "news" be under "releases" on the same page, or should these be separate
pages?
The "install and configure" link should point to:
http://lucene.apache.org/hadoop/api/overview-summary.html#overview_description
> http://lucene.apache.org/hadoop/ front page is not user-friendly

> One of our tech writers has been looking at the state of Hadoop
> documentation, and suggests reworking the Hadoop front page to be more than
> just a release page (as it seems to be now).
> Especially in comparison with other other apache project pages, ours is
> uninviting to users unfamiliar with the premise of the project. She's
> suggesting updating the page to include more meta-information about the site,
> in addition to most of the links and news items currently on the page.
