Guys, Although BSP had been there for some time, many are more familiar with the MR framework due to the media attention/articles/ecosystem/$$ etc. I think the trend is to fit everything into MR. The earlier mentioned paper compares MR and BSP, but it's neck deep and something (explanation and references) at a high level can be added to Hama wiki FAQ along these lines.
1. What is BSP? 2. What types of problems can and can't be solved with BSP? 3. Comparing BSP with MR? When to go for BSP and when for MR? 4. What are the performance metrics comparing BSP and MR for the same problem? 5. Why go for Hama when there are other implementations of BSP? Also, couple of articles (in IBM DW and others) would really spread the word about Hama. Since, I am new to Hama/BSP I can help to review the articles from a fresh set of eyes.
