Well, first of all, render_partial is deprecated and shouldn't be used. Use render :partial instead (see docs for render http://api.rubyonrails.org/classes/ActionController/Base.html#M000267). Second, "#{:id => "job#{j.id}"}" is invalid Haml - you can't have a hash ("#") without a value. "%div" is the preferred way to do that.
