Hi all

OK - sorry this is not particularly Linux but it's been driving me nuts.

What I want (and maybe I'm being too exacting here) is a program for Linux or
indeed Windows that will just take a video DVD and dump out an avi / mpg /
whatever file preferably at enough res that I can watch on a big screen TV.

I've tried k3b which just does nothing when I click rip DVD (and there's a
perfectly working DVD mounted). There is no free software I can find for
Windows that can handle it. Apparently Nero and Roxio can do it but Amazon
reviews are mixed.

Surely someone must now a one or two click solution to this. One obvious
sticking point for me is I've tried several Linux possibilities which seem to
call a transcode GUI - which refuses to run in my res / font sizes and won't
resize.

Any advice anyone?

Cheers
Rob
