there's a problem with those, as spammers use
these footers as a means of verifying that your
email address exists and is having mail read.
Once you click on the "unsubscribe" link you've
effectively said "yes, I'm here, and I've not blocked your spam, send me MOAR!"
I thought they did that anyhow with the
transparent 1x1 pixel image contained within the email?
