I've been a fairly long-term 'screen' user, not ever tried tmux. From the comments above, it's clear there are things tmux does that screen doesn't (and maybe the other way round too). I'd be interested to see the two compared ... could be an interesting demo topic for a LUG meeting.
(Mischievously, I find my self wondering if it's another vi-versus-emacs type thing :-)
