Russia, 5940, Radio Rossii, 0425-0442, Noted a good signal here when
the frequency was clear of any other stations, at least listening here in
Clewiston. Noted a couple of males in Russian language comments
during the period. Signal was fair to good. (Chuck Bolland, December 4,
2008)

Bolivia, 6134.79, Radio Santa Cruz, 0958-1020, Initially noted a program
of Bolivian music which continued through the hour mark. At about 1005,
a series of promos and ID's heard, all of them canned; then at about 1010,
back to music. Signal was good. (Chuck Bolland, December 4, 2008)

Peru, 4826.46, Radio Sichuan, 1021-1040, Mainly heard Spanish comments
from both a male and female during the period. Some music heard, but only
as a "bridge" so to speak. Signal was fair to threshold during the period.
By
1040, it was evident that the signal was fading out for the morning. (Chuck
Bolland, December 4, 2008)

Indonesia, 4976.02, RRI Pontianak, (Pres)1058-1105 At tune in noticed music
in
progress. Gotta make this a "presume" since no break on the hour or comments
during the period. Signal was poor. (Chuck Bolland, December 4, 2008)

Peru, 4835.45. Radio Maranon, 1115-1120, Surprised that this is still
readable
because of the late time, but noted a female in Spanish language followed by
a male. This signal is cycling in and out as it fades into the noise trying
to hold
on for just a few more moments. Unfortunately that doesn't happen as
it fades down to nothing. (Chuck Bolland, December 4, 2008)

Unident, 4865.03, 1120-1130 Noted a female talking joined by a male at
1123.
Signal was barely audible over the noise. The nuance of the speech sounds
like Spanish, but can't be sure? Could this be that elusive shadowy Radio
Station called Logos that hasn't been heard here in Florida yet? Signal is
audibly gone
by 1130, but I can still see it on the scope. (Chuck Bolland, December 4,
2008)

Disclaimer: My "Spell Checker" has a tendency to change words
without asking. For example, it changed RRI in the above email,
to RARE; so I may miss some of it's corrections at times which
are incorrect. For this I apologize if and when it happens.

Hi all

Correction on my 5940 Russian. Correct that to
Radio Liberty being relayed via
Lampertheim, Germany.

Sorry for the mix up

Ethiopia, 9704.1, Radio Ethiopia, Pres. 2036-2100, With tune in, noted
steady music. The music was basically solid, mello Jazz tunes all from the
same group it seemed. At 2057 two females begin comments in unident language
until 2059 when a male joins with possible ID and URL. This is followed
with National Anthem til 2059+. At 2100 dead air heard and then off. Signal
was fair during broadcast. This is suppose to be the domestic service on
9704 KHz. I don't know? I couldn't Ident the language and the QRM was
overwhelming, so this is possibly correct from what I heard? (Chuck
Bolland, December 4, 2008)

9535 THAILAND, R. Thailand heard at 2006 on 4 Dec w/GM program, some pop
music then s/off w/station ID and freqs in EG. Nice S4 signals here in
Kabul, even tho aimed at Europe.

9575 MOROCCO, Medi 1, heard at 1941 on 4 Dec w/AR and FR talks, pop mx
and commercials. Pretty low signal (S2 at best) and barely above the noise.

QSL:

BELGIUM - RTBF International, 9970, f/d email in 15 days for FR report. V/S
Fabienne Pasau ([EMAIL PROTECTED]), who also complimented me on my FR language
skills (which I personally think are execrable.....).

Well, folks, I'm back in Kaboom, ermmm, Kabul, and my reward was a couple of
good catches. Security here is ramped up in preparation for the Eid, and
the Government has declared a weeklong holiday from Saturday the 6th thru
Friday the 12th of December because of the Eid and various other things.
The parliament has approved and presented a bill to President Karzai to sign
making the weekend Friday/Saturday and the work week only five days.
President Karzai is hopefully going to sign this soon. Theoreticlaly, I
should have the week off for DX, however, because this is an ISP, we're all
on duty 24/7/365 and I still have to do some office time, but I still
anticipate a lot of DX time.

Incidently, if there are any other network engineers out there who may be
interested in some fun, travel and adventure (including dodging bullets,
IEDs, polluted air, and the chef from Hell), earning some good tax-free
money (lodging, transport and meals included - perqs you have to negotiate),
please send your resume/CV my way and I will present it to the CEO for
consideration. You should have at least five years network engineering
experience and relevant certifications: MCSE, Network+, Security+, CCNP,
CCIE, etc. A formal degree is not necessary.
