AUSTRIA Radio Andorra special b'cast Sat 4 June at 1700-1900 UTC on 6180

Next broadcast of "From the archives of Radio Andorra"
(Saturday, June 4th 2022)

The next first Saturday per month is approaching. Time for another "from
the archives of Radio Andorra" programming:

He is chansonnier and crooner and loves Latin-American music like Tango.
Famous in France but as well in other parts of the world, Mr. Guy Marchand
turned 85 years old recently. As for his birthday, we've restored a radio
program from summer 1979 which belongs to a series of shows that were
produced by at that time well known musicians and actors.

Jazz, Pop, Rock'n'roll, Classical Music, Reggae and Cabaret in an unusual
mix (as per radio standards of today) and some personal stories will be
aired on Saturday, June 4th at the following times:

For Europe 1700-1900 UTC on 6180 kHz via ORS Moosbrunn,
LogPer Antenna on 270 degr, 100kW

For NoAM 2200-2400 UTC on 13730 kHz via ORS Moosbrunn,
            HRS4/4/1 on 295 degr, 100kW

Both programs were made possible through the help of radio-enthusiasts who
helped covering the costs for all the work.

If you want to have more of Radio Andorra in the future, you can help us
making this possible here: <https:\\gofund.me/9d1e4c8d>
Kind regards, Christian

(Christian Milling-D, wor May 30; Christian Milling on WRTH F_B today)

DX/SWL/MEDIA PROGRAMS
updated June 4
http://www.worldofradio.com/dxpgms.html

** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98 RCUSB, Saturday June 4 at 1420, no signal yet
into Buenos Aires SDR, but by recheck 1454, LRA36 is on with song,
S2-S5; occasional 2-way QRM from local receiver overload, so I check
the other three Kiwis in Argentina, four in Brasil, one in Uruguay,
but none have as good a signal, if any. 1459 Hola, formal canned
sign-on with multilingual IDs including English that this is in
Spanish; 1500 Ant?rtida song; 1504 YL talk. It`s really too weak to
understand much. 1505 a few seconds of cacophony. 1509 conversation
seems live. 1512 OTH radar? burst QRM a few seconds. 1529 interview on
phone. 1537 song. 1542 contact info. 1548 phone interview. 1600 more
QRM. 1604 ID with music, song; 1610 weakening, 1616 JBA, 1622 either
off or faded out. There was supposed to be a repeat starting this
Saturday at 1800, but no sign of it in several chex that hour. Maybe
on but still faded out? BTW, I missed checking for it at all on
Wednesday June 1 around 1500. Gary Pence in Dallas was also monitoring
remotely today and says by 1600 it was S9 into LU4AA remote (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** BRAZIL. 9665.070V, June 4 at 0512, RVM, S4/S5 but always
well-modulated, Portuguese and music, the closest it`s been to nominal
9665 in ages after varying even above 9667 lately (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** CANADA. 18127.5 USB, June 4 at 2155, VX1BB calling CQ, as a
``special prefix`` from Nova Scotia. So special or new he is not found
in qrz.com. Immediately makes a contact (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 27185, June 3 at 2221, while I`m logging 10m ham beacons,
see USA, I also check CB, to find huge horrible pulsing noise centered
on major CB calling frequency, hitting S9+52, surely something local
jamming, also wideband, audible as far out as 27090-27270! Still/again
on at 2154 June 4.

[non] On the June 3 occasion, skip was also in with pileups around
27025, 27086; and somebody on 26975 at 2224 IDing as ``NC 113`` (Glenn
Hauser, Enid, WOR)

** UKRAINE [non]. 7730, Sat June 4 at 0500-0508, UR1 via WRMI, English
war report `Ukraine: Security Issue`, VG into Maryland remote (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2141 monitoring: confirmed UT Sat June 4 at
0130 on WRMI 9395, S9+15/25 direct.

Also confirmed UT Sat June 4 at 0400 on WBCQ R. Angela, 5130, S9/+25
with storm crashes into Missouri SDR. Fortunately, no echo like there
was the previous hour during FTIOM as checked on two remotes, Missouri
and Maryland.

Also confirmed Sat June 4 at 1934 on WA0RCR, 1860 AM, MO via nearby
remote, S9+5 steady, ending at 1955.5, so started a bit early.

NOT confirmed Sat June 4 at 1930 on WRMI 15770: instead, VOA Spe-cial
Eng-lish news and features for the half hour! Now running VOA
1900-2000 except Sunday, Jeff White tells me.

Confirmed UT Sunday June 5 at 0030 on WRMI 7780, fair but lots of
storm noise into Maryland SDR. Next:

0300vUT Sunday WA0RCR 1860-AM [nominal 0315; as late as 0430]
1324vUT Sunday WMRI Europe via Ch 292 Germany 9670
2000 UT Sunday IRRS 1323 & 918? & 207?-Italy
2230 UT Sunday WRMI 5950 to NNW [to be canceled? still May 29]
0030 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to SW
0300vUT Monday WBCQ 6160v Area 51 to WSW
0030 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW; 9455 to WNW

For these noncommercial services, voluntary financial support is much
appreciated, thanks this week to generous Dan Sheedy, CA, who sent
to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702, ``some $ to help out
your always helpful WoR info group. Cheers from DX-less Encinitas``

One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to

** U S A. Finally my first sporadic E FM DX of the season: DXMAPS
indicates some high MUFs, so June 3 at 1517 UT, I start bandscanning:
on the south-facing porch only a metre above ground level to minimize
local and fringe signals which are always in the way and somewhat
tropo-boosted in the morning; and on the battery-powered DX-398 with
telescopic antenna only, which I can swiftly manipulate vs QRM or to
take advantage of polarizations; PL-880 as backup but not needed: its
tuning is haywire, requiring locking down any frequency tuned lest it
wander around, and certainly no bandscanning with it. Meanwhile a cat
quizically wonders what`s going on upon his favorite table perch.
Primary reference in the aftermath is the excellent WTFDA FM Database.
Distances are approx., city-to-city from distancefromto.net, not
exactly transmitter to receiver co?rdinates. Note: I do not count
stations, states or anything, and am not in competition. Many logs are
circumstantial after considerable research. I am open to any
correxions or assistance in IDs. Also, the fun for me in this is the
detail and research, despite it taking a lot more of my time than the
original DXing! My eyes glaze over to DX logs condensed to one line as
some editors insist upon.

88.7, first channel checked, since already tuned as I also use it for
internal RF feeding, at 1517, break in `1-A` show, 1518 mentions Troy
Public Radio, so it is: WRWA, Dothan AL, Troy University Public Radio,
50 kW h&v u.o.s., 143 m HAAT. 1287 km = 800 mi

88.7, at 1523, brief CCI to above and/or Ponca City, ID as ``Z-88.3``.
Yes, NOT 88.7. This fits exactly: WMYZ, relay of: WPOZ 88.3, The
Villages FL, ``Z-88``, 35 kW/82 m. That previously unheard-of city of
51K as of 2010y is just south of Ocala. 1702 km = 1058 mi

91.9, at 1525 & 1528, Moody Radio promos vs KS? CCI. Only fit in PTA
is: WMBV, Dixons Mills AL, 62 kW/187 m. DM is a tiny town of 290 as of
2010y in west central Alabama; that`s 4.68 people per kW ERP. 1045 km
= 649 mi

96.5, at 1530, toe fungus and Tracfone ads, 1531 ``Z 96.5``. Only hit
is beyond probable target area: WAZY-FM, Lafayette IN, CHR, 50 kW/152
m. UNLESS search on Z96 without a space or hyphen, ergo: WZNS, Fort
Walton Beach FL, CHR, 100 kW/140 m. Again at 1607, see below. 1238 km
= 769 mi

96.5, at 1531, CCI to above, Spanish music. Lots of LP and a few full
power possible in US, but very likely WOEX Orlando FL, 99 kW/454 m.
1774 km = 1102 mi

99.5, at 1533, ``Big Country 99-5``: altho there is a little WV by
this slogan, rather it`s: KXBL, Henryetta OK, 100 kW/299m, rimshotter
to Tulsa market. I leave these non-DX in for informational purposes.
201 km = 125 mi

104.3, at 1534, promo for something - ``--- Country`` --- too many
possibilities, but not OK or KS

90.1, at 1535, NPRish talkshow, not OK or KS

90.7, at 1536, ballad. This is one of few `open` channels here in
non-comm band, but always with ACI from both sides

93.3, at 1538, ad for Bartow Ford, rock: Bartow is 17K town east of
Tampa, but it caters to the Tampa market where there is: WFLZ-FM, 97
kW/472 m. 1725 km = 1072 mi

94.9, at 1539, classic rock, RDS tries to engage; 1541 ``Tampa Bay`s
best music``: WWRM, Tampa, Magic 94.9, 97.3 kW/470 m. Also at 1628,
below. 1725 km = 1072 mi

92.9, at 1543, gas promo code FULL; Girl Scout Twin Mints; Southwest
Florida golf ---: WIKX, Charlotte Harbor, Kix Country, 100 kW/246 m.
1823 km = 1133 mi

92.9, at 1544, CCI to above mentions Ocala; 1547 ``Kix Country``,
weather, RaysPlumbingInc.com: WMFQ, Hot AC, 92 Q, 50 kW/145 m. 1672 km
= 1039 mi

Also CCI? by YL from Weather Center; 929 Foxy? But no hits on that

94.1, at 1549, Tampa ad; 1550, ``Wild 94-1``: WLLD, Lakeland FL,
rhythmic CHR, 100 kW/455 m [not WILD]. 1759 km = 1093 mi

99.3, at 1553, rap; 1554 ``993TheBeat.com``: WEBZ, Mexico Beach FL,
classic hip-hop, 50 kW/150 m [not a 6 kw in Pine Bluff AR of same
slogan]. M.B. is between P?nama City and Port St Joe. 1362 km = 847
mi

103.7, at 1556, K-LOVE, praise music, RDS with song titles: KYLK,
Okemah OK, 72 kW/282 m. 178 km = 111 mi

93.3, at 1601, mention Orlando; 1603 ``Coast 93-3``; 1604 ``93-3
FLD``?, weather, Tampa Bay, iHeart station: this is mixture of 2
stations: WFLZ-FM, Tampa, CHR, 93.3 FLZ, 97 kW/472 m. 1725 km = 1072
mi; AND:
WNCV, Shalimar FL, soft AC, Coast 93.3, 50 kW/140 m. Again at 1635,
below. Shalimar is between Niceville and Ft Walton Beach on the
Panhandle coast. 1238 km = 769 mi

96.5, at 1607, ``Z96``, RDS is Z96_____ = +5 blank spaces; about
tattoos, ``#1 hit music station``: as above 1530 log: WZNS, Fort
Walton Beach FL, CHR, 100 kW/140 m. 1238 km = 769 mi

96.5, at 1613, CCI to above, ``Alive FM``: WBBL, Richton MS, southern
gospel, 5.7 kW/175 m. Richton is just E of Hattiesburg in SE MS; rare
state by Es, mostly too close. 997 km = 620 mi

94.3, at 1620, Lake City ad, CCI: WNFB, Lake City FL, AC, Mix 94.3, 50
kW/150 m. 1573 km = 977 mi

94.3, at 1622, CCI to above mentions Alabama. Of the 3 AL stations
beyond low-power, most likely this near Dothan in SE corner: WIZB,
Abbeville, Joy FM Network, 19.5 kW/36 m. 1280 km = 796 mi

92.9, at 1624, ``SR 22 Insurance, 800-665-0129``. First thought maybe
name of insurance co. on a state route - highway, but search finds
that refers to an official document form effective in OK and perhaps
elsewhere. But the 800 leads to MT Printing, Kitchener-Waterloo ON.
Why would they be advertising? Maybe just Tulsa

92.1, at 1625 ``Gulf Coast Rock Alternative`` -- no WTFDA hits on any
word in slogan field, but looking at all in Florida, one has that
exact website among remarx!: WECQ, Destin, Rock 92.1, 19 kW/115 m.
1249 km = 776 mi

94.1, at 1627, ``The Bay, Party Station, Y94-1``. No, it`s Wild 94-1,
as already logged above at 1549; WLLD, Lakeland FL, 100 kW/455 m, in
PS Info field: ``WiLD 94.1 the Bay`s Party Station``. 1759 km = 1093
mi

94.9, at 1628, 813 AC - Tampa, Ray Reynolds loans` ``Magic 94-9``:
same as at 1539: WWRM, Tampa, Magic 94.9, 97.3 kW/470 m. 1725 km =
1072 mi [note: when I put a dash between numbers as spoken, it means
no ``point``]

93.3, at 1635, RDS: COAST933. Also mentions iHeart. Same as 1603 log
above: WNCV, Shalimar FL, soft AC, Coast 93.3, 50 kW/140 m. 1238 km =
769 mi

103.5, at 1639, Macy`s ad, ``Power 103.5, Number 1 Hip-Hop Station``.
Merely: KVSP, Anadarko OK, rimshot to OKC: bet you didn`t know native
Americans were into Macy`s or hip-hop. 150 km = 93 mi

By 1640 I`m no longer getting Es DX, from FL or anywhere, so quit, and
shortly checking the DXMAP, see FL is completely out of skip zone now,
moved further to N and W, i.e. MUF if any is skipping right over OK.
At 1748 a quick check on caradio finds no Es either (Glenn Hauser,
Enid OK, WOR)

** U S A. In between sporadic E openings into the FM band, June 3 at
2205-2248 UT, I get some lower-MUF beacons on the 28 MHz ham band. As
often the case, when CW beacons are audible I don`t hear any phone
USB stations higher up in band, and vice versa. Listings looked up at
WJ5O roster; https://www.qsl.net/wj5o/bcn.htm --- where crossed zeroes
in calls are really crossed letters in Scandinavia. Many of the same
ones were logged June 16, 2021, q.v., some with additional qrz.com
info. Makes you wonder if only a few in the huge WJ5O roster be
currently active.

28250, at 2205, K0HTF/B - sends nothing but call over and over.
28.250 K?HTF C URBANDALE, IOWA # 3W, INVERTED V New QTH 19 June 17

28251.6, at 2208, JBA with a long message. Also at 2227, K#6KE? Still
JBA with fades, also long 35-second pauses: easily missed when
scanning. No VVV or CQ but starts immediately with call. At 2248 seems
more like KE4J#. Nothing closer than this to match:
28.2515 KE5JXC C PECAN ISLAND, LOUISIANA # 5W VERTICAL new 10 Sept

28298, at 2211, K5TLL/B EM51gg, strong with no pauses
28.298 K5TLL C HATTIESBURG, MISS. # 25W, VERTICAL New Freq 14 Dec 08

28300, at 2214, K6FRC/B, only the call. Haven`t heard him on 13564 in
quite a while. Which one applies? No exact match /B:
28.300 K6FRC/B3 TRACY, CALIFORNIA 10W, VERTICAL QRT prior to 2016
28.300 K6FRC C TRACY, CALIFORNIA # 100W, "POGO stick" VERTICAL Freq

28.204 W?WF * SAINT CHARLES, MISSOURI # 20W, VERTICAL (*) Daylight New
16 June 14 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. Another sporadic E FM DX session June 3, this time
on stock 2004 Nissan caradio with fixed antenna, no RDS:

92.1, at 2326 UT, baseball game, but maybe not same station as central
Minnesota ad at 2327 for concrete products, Brainerd. Closest one to
there is: WYRQ-FM, Little Falls, country, 6 kW/91 m. 1117 km = 694 mi

93.1, at 2329, ``93-1, The Border`` atop Kansan: CFOB-FM, Fort Frances
ON, 21 kW/81 m. 1407 km = 874 mi. Right across from International
Falls MN

93.3, at 2334, ``Z 93.3, Today`s Best Country``, Brainerd mention or
is that CCI? KBLB, Nisswa MN, country, B 93.3, 100 kW/170 m. Nisswa is
just north of Brainerd. 1162 km = 722 mi

94.5, at 2337 hard rock f/in/out; 2344 more like praise rock, and
2345, ``taking the stress away from a long day, love songs and
Delilah[?], Y94``. No hits without a space or hyphen. With a space,
only words ending in Y space 94, like MightY. With a hyphen, only one
hit but doesn`t fit format or PTA, FWIW: WYYY, Syracuse NY, AC, 100
kW/198 m. 1993 km = 1239 mi. Maybe not really a Y?

After a break, one more caradio session, UT Sat June 4 at 0137-0207:

94.5, at 0137, C&W, YL DJ, mentions Georgia? Only full power in GA is
: WBYZ, Baxley, Country, Z 94.5, 100 kW/309.1 m - but need more to ID.
1517 km = 943 mi

96.7, at 0139, C&W, got to be Es DX on locally vacant channel. At
0150, romantic rock music

94.5, at 0145, ``Richmond`s Q94`` with CCI: WRVQ Richmond VA, 200/200
kW, 107 m. Look at that power! Old grandfathered station? 1817 km =
1129 mi - not the Richmond in NSW!

97.5, at 0159, C&W music, mix baseball game. Likely Es, anyway.

Nothing more to report until I quit at 0207 UT. Besides all the CCI
and ACI, also frustrating are all the national ads which have no local
references; even some weather reports manage to avoid anything local;
and too much long music trax especially in the evenings (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** VANUATU. 11835, June 4 at 0617, RV is on 3 x 3945 again for a
second night of latest reactivation, S3/S8 with country song (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

This report dispatched at 0122 UT June 5

I have sent the following email to the station:

"It would be very special if you put on air an additional low power
transmission on 7325 kHz, the original frequency of Atlantic 2000. It
could be possible?. It would be a very nice way to pay homage to 40
years of station history. "

Here the replay of the station:

"Yes, it's possible. Try this Monday, June 6th at 0830 UTC on 7325 kHz
or around.
It will be a replay of our very first broadcast on shortwave of the 6th
of June 1982. "
