must be USAGM relay testing. MUF depressed and no trace of // 15610 or
17690; a carrier on 4940 assumed Venezuela, but EiBi also shows 4940
for BOTS at 0530-0700 Tue & Fri (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA. 11760, Sept 8 at 0627, S9+30 of dead air with howl from RHC
where something`s always wrong; the SSOB by far (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)
** CUBA [and non]. 15140, Sept 8 at 1448, RHC S7 OC the SSOB, tnx to
15150 WMLK absent; only other significant sig on band 15770 WRMI
S6/S7. SAWA (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** HAWAII. 10000, Sept 8 at 0632, WWVH is S9, and no signal from WWV.
Hope it survived the latest hurricane; not sure when the wind would

** MALI. 5995, Sept 8 at 0615 no noise, no ORTModulation; but at 0620
the broad noise is running! Other reports of this:
``Greetings From Minnesota! Tuned in late via local Kiwi SDR as there
were thunderstorms in the area. 0618z no signal, then the "rough
noise" appeared suddenly at 0620z. And was there when I tuned out at
0626z. As I hit "send" on the last note, the "rough noise" cut
transmission at 0627z. And then returned at 0629z for about 30
seconds, then out again. Then back 0630z. Let's hope they are making
some sort of progress, at least it sounds like they are trying! 73s

likely long-path. Sked for Malagasy, M-F at 1455-1525. Preceded by LO,

they run IS entirely 1443-1455? Probably not; antenna beam changes

Canada vs Drumpf, S8 via ASCENSION direct, running about 5 words
behind // 13690 BBC WS news in English via RNZP. 06-07 is currently
the only use of legacy OOB frequency 9915 by any BBC; and RNZP relay
is chopped off by 0630. Signals about equal level (Glenn Hauser, OK,

September 7 at 2332 the 2330 on WBCQ 7490-, S9+10/25 into Maryland

** U S A. 1690, WCPT 820 Chicago via WMLB 1690 Atlanta: my original
assumption that WCPT ID on 1690 would be via another Chicago station
WVON, could have been avoided had I not overlooked this info Sept 4
from Harry S., in Atlanta, which I belatedly quote here!
``[WOR] WMLB AM 1690 Change of Ownership/LMA --- Glenn, This
information would be of use for medium wave DXers. The station WMLB AM
on 1690 kHz, licensed to Avondale Estates, Georgia (but covers that
Atlanta, GA market), has since September 1, 2026 dropped their
conservative talk radio format and started into an LMA with Heartland
Signal. WMLB AM now carries the progressive talk programming of the
flagship station of Heartland Signal, WCPT 820 AM from Chicago, IL.
This situation would be quite confusing to listeners if you listen to
WMLB 1690 over the air now since it announces as WCPT 820 throughout
its programming and commercial breaks and even gives the local Chicago
weather forecasts(!). I have yet to hear the WMLB ID (as of Sept. 4,
2026) at the top of the hour, but I have not listened to enough of the
programming throughout the day if a "WMLB" ID is inserted. Hopefully
they get this fixed!
The switch in format is quite an abrupt change since WMLB is going
from an ultra conservative programming format to progressive
programming format. It also harkens back to WMLB in its early
programming in the Atlanta market when back in 2004 to 2006 and had the
WWAA call letters. The station then carried the Air America Radio
network which was a progressive talk radio format.
To add to the confusion for the station, the wmlb1690.com website
(former web site?), has a large splash page that announces the change
but with a significant error in it where it says "WMLB AM 1650" is
being sold. The frequency is NOT correct! The sale of WMLB AM does not
yet appear at the FCC website as it has not been approved. It is
unclear if the sale also includes "wmlb1690.com" (which is still
streaming the former conservative talk format!). Thanks, Harry S.,

UNIDENTIFIED. 6040, Sept 8 at 1458, JBA carrier. EiBi shows CRI at
14-15 via Xian site in Mandarin to SE Asia; but at this late hour I
suspect something closer. Even 6070 CFRX inaudible now (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)
