Hi all, new member here... I'm a software consultant and
developer who happens to have a sister who runs a family
practice clinic.

I'm interested in learning about and using OpenVistA or
perhaps some other form of VistA.

What I have done so far is download and install "OpenVistA
SemiVivA 0.4" onto my desktop which runs Gentoo Linux. I
can run it and get a "GTM>" prompt, but what now?

All I want to do at this point is see a workable demo.
Should I be able to run the CPRS GUI from a Windows box at
this point and do anything interesting, or does the server
require more setup first? And either way I will presumably
need to be authenticated, so what's the login information?

The most surprising thing to me is that, as someone who has
been googling and going through the archives of this list
for a couple of days now, I have to ask such a basic
question! I would be happy to create some sort of getting-
started documentation, which is obviously very sorely
needed, assuming I can learn enough.

Here are some resources that I already know about:

  http://www.worldvista.org/
  http://www.pacifichui.org/OpenVista/
  http://www.va.gov/vdl/
  http://www.hardhats.org/
  http://www.cms.hhs.gov/quality/pfqi.asp (VistA Office)

Also where is the source for the CPRS GUI? That question
was answered earlier on this list, but the file no longer
seems to be at the indicated place. There appears to be
some secrecy surrounding the source - is it proprietary?

By the way is anyone here directly involved with VistA
Office? I would be interested to know more about its
current status.

Thanks!
