Thanks to Sharon & HP for putting the call together. There is provision for out-of-the-country participation. 2. Boston debriefing: a. Eric Stewart - Wine port; first draft done b. Frank Fukunaga and Norman Okamura - VistA Institute - joint venture WV-Hui-U of Hawaii c. VSA (501c6 trade association) Barbara Boykin - core mission: lobbying/marketing; WorldVistA focus is software & life cycle and community and as 501c3 is limited d. Internationalization: summarized work done & work left to be done; worked out reasonable framework for opening international chapters of WorldVistA e. Session with Cameron Schlehuber (by phone), WorldVistA and VSA regarding collaboration: an initiative to resurrect the bidirectional software gateway; discussed various topics - internationalization high on list, as well a parameterization (same as VistA Office EHR); waiting for VA to release guidelines; expecting something in writing shortly from VA. Result was statement of intent project by project; VA: Training program & reference materials; provide training opportunities; existing modules discussion; CPRS on Linux discussed; also discussed development of independent verification and validation process for software developed outside the VA. In verbal stage at this time. Barbara Boykin did summary - Maury & Barb sent email to Rob f. Business Model discussed: Dialects, relationships, software lifecycle, etc. g. George Timson give presentation of FileMan enhancements: ScreenMan is now mouse aware - semi-gui ScreenMan and Internationalization; will be talking with Medsphere CEO to making this available h. Marty Johnson - more VistA and MUMPS history before and after the underground railroad and fire I. New England M User Group - $Horolog turning 60,000 days j. MDC revival session - changes for mumps standard; dozen things: support internationalization need translation into other character sets; have Mumps ASCII 7 Japanese character sets; need internationalization character set; follow-up and action items; std is stable not emergency but need act now to avoid emergency - Unicode is nice because ;you don't have to have different character sets - Dialog file has all translations in same global - not really an issue. if you want to display a screen with Hebrew & Chinese $L calculation to figure right layout is more easily done with Unicode; Chris: standard ISO10646; VistA Standard to code against. k. Intersystems was excellent: more meeting rooms; much food & drink; helped momentum of meeting l. Misc : demonstrations; Bhaskar installations - VistA Viva highlights: two most recent FOIAs, OpenVistA 0.4, the VA demo with CPRS & populated database, m2web, source code for vista benchmark, GT.M acculturation CD - ; had people volunteering to help with funding; combination of hosting cover food and attendees donations - a first: WorldVistA broke even. Donations vs meeting fee worked well; will do it again. 3. Defining the next OpenVistA - framework & timeframe: OpenVistA 2.51 & VistA Viva; next R&D meeting will do lot of work before May 12-15 in Seattle consolidate all changes to OpenVistA v.4.0 to include DSS life cycle tools, Mettle Team work, Stonecutter, M2Web, VPE & other tools; Rick's tool to search all VistA code; need to establish OpenVistA's pedigree - what is its relationship to FOIA - big deliverable: compare to FOIA - changes done with series of KIDS patches; Next week on Monday will put call to vendors for changes they want to include; May meeting will be documentation & verification & packing; second trace continuing web interface development for VistA. 4. Quick overview of project ??? 5. Two big meetings a year ; small coding & R&D meetings throughout the year; Next big VistA Community Meeting - Minneapolis in October 27-30-2004 (tentative) - Teamspeak at Seattle meeting-good idea - need is to have brief report of this meeting - decision: post on Hardhats and website as well a Friday call; video recap for download. 6. Need open source license 7. VistA Imaging outside VA? Hui compiled code - Jos Puthooran in India interested in doing this - Anyone done work on this?
