Well, yes, but interpreting the data properly doesn't occur magically. Choosing good tag names is a start, but I wouldn't depend on the programmer to get it right. I've been developing interfaces for the past few years and have seen numerous cases of subtle differnces in how different programmers interpreted data elements that seemed to have perfectly clear semantics.
