Medical Practice Setting I'm thinking: Community Clinic with
* 1 doctor + 1-2 NP/PA + 1-2 RNs + 1-2 Office staff * waiting room with computer terminal for self-registration of patients (with a volunteer helping them) * a few exam rooms, each with CPRS terminal * lab room for drawing specimen, etc, with another terminal * front desk with another CPRS terminal for billing * Fiber/DSL/Cable broad-band access to fill Rx at a local pharmacy online * staff lounge with OpenVistA server and backup system * Regular training of at least one staff on using, managing, and setting up the VistA system Any doctors/nurses out there, please fill in any missing links, Thanks. answers to Rusty's questions: 1. SMB for Mac - Win connection 2. SMB on Mac where VistA server resides 3. OSirix only runs on Mac 4. see above 5. in general, Mac has been a good platform for graphical applications while Linux has not (driver nightmare, lack of application support). Think about upgrading intel-AMD hardware and suddenly you cann't look up patient's CXRs !!! Jae.
