The best solution I have head is to create a report that includes everything. Although this may not include the "everything" that Chris is talking about, like the audit trail, etc., it will serve to provide the functionality that you want. The clinical application coordinators know how to do this and I have been told someone who is experienced can do it it in 30 minute. i.e., create the sort of report that can do this for any patient you wish to do it for, not that it will take 30 minutes for each patient.
This is something the whole community needs to know how to do, so if someone out there would like to tell us all or post it on the wiki, it would be a big help.
