[H] Laptop recommendations

I have never been much of a laptop guy because I have never been very 
mobile. I haven't paid much attention to what is available in the way 
of laptops because up to now what I require for mobile computing my 
phone has been able to accomplish. But things are about to change, at 
least for the rest of the year. I will be very mobile, on the go, and 
traveling by planes, and car probably carrying a laptop in a 
briefcase slung over my shoulder.

I have a 08 Acer Aspire 6930 2GB dual core , 4GB RAM, with SSD  BT + 
USB3 16 inch screen that sits in my bedroom and works great with 
Media Center and any kind of media that I can use that for 
entertainment, if traveling by car... but for carrying around, day to 
day work, and plane travel I need something else.

I use a windows phone = Lumia 1020 with Win8.1 about to become Win 10 
so I am thinking of a Surface PRO 3 with an I5 8GB of RAM. Anybody 
have any experience with one? Any other Laptop suggestions... I am 
open to any thing... comments ...warning.. suggestions? Thanks
