I don't use cables anymore. Transfer App works, or goodreader, ect. Or I use 
the cloud. Wireless backups at night.  4 used that damned 30 pin cable. 5,6 use 
lightning cable. Sub at one end. Android uses plain sub cables, but there are 
file transfer apps there too. You need an apple account for iDevice. Doesn't 
sound like you really use that many apps if you are happy on windows phone.
