Says who?  I know it's a bit of a bitch, but I've had it easy doing that..

Record to DVD-R from a set-top, import the DVD into NeroVisions, edit, save
with menus, chapters, whatever.. wipe out previous chapters, etc. etc.  add
in effects, export to a folder on your HDD, burn to a new DVD-R.  Hell,
DVD-R discs are cheap enough anymore.

I can't edit or re-in code that way.

It is odd that I have been able to do this with a cheaper VCR. I wonder if 
the SVideo has something to do with it. Maybe I will just try a direct RCA 
video cable ... maybe the Svideo is the issue.
