It has been a long time since I had anything but a factory radio in my
vehicle and I have rarely listened to that. However, I like listening to
talking books, and recorded Charlie Rose shows, on my mp3 player. The
factory radio cassette just wasn't doing this, so I purchased a nice Sony
CD player, with Aux jack, from Crutchfield, for my Toyota Tachoma. It was
surprisingly inexpensive. I installed it, in dash, yesterday and it looks,
and sounds great.
However, for the first time in a couple of decades I started worrying
about somebody stealing it. Something I hadn't considered when I bought it.
This is a drag because I never think about stuff like that anymore. I don't
have to worry about it when it is parked at home, only if I were to park it
to go to a show at night, or something like that. I hate having to consider
this, and I am not going to spend time or money with an alarm of any kind.
The whole thing only cost $130 bucks. I am more concerned about damage to
the vehicle by somebody breaking in then I am about losing the Sony.
It does come with a removal display / controller. My question is, does
the removable face have a real deterrent to theft? Or will people still
break in to get the base unit.
