thanks for the reply, reviews at newegg were mostly down on the 7170's and having a bad taste once upgrading a Pioneer that was great to a newer model that was crap leaves me skeptical. Box has to ship out of state so I need no problems. Even looking at LiteON again, always liked their drives, can not remember why I quit buying them. Pioneer were good but my 3550a NEC's have been real good ( even having a real bad experience once with a NEC SCSI cd rom )
Maddog looks pretty good but I need a Beige.
