Well, my Canon S600 bubble-jet printer finally died! Looks like electrical, but can not be sure. Yes, using a refill black cart! But, the "hollowed out" text lines are very random. Doesn't look like plugged jets. Will play with it later!
Went to Office Depot. Had the Brother b&w 2070N laser printer on sale for $99.99. Has network built in. Nice gray scale and quiet. 1st print is much faster than the Canon BJ. I'm happy, and, finally up to a laser! 20ppm, 250 sheet tray. TN-350 replacement cart was $62. UG says that I can replace just the toner cart and keep old drum, or, replace both in one shot.
