Duncan, To add to the mix, most socket A motherboards do not have the required mounting holes for the Big Typhoon. I had what was a screamer setup about 4 years ago with a barton XP3200+ that had a LOUD HSF, but no mounting holes. Somewhere in the house I have 3 other socket A boards, none of which have the mounting holes. My newer systems (AMD 64 socket 939s) all have the requisite mounting holes. Just some more info to think about in your quest. Bottom line, if what you have now is working for you, leave it alone! Once you start the upgrade trail, there is no limit! :)
