Thane,
I mean no disrespect here, but perhaps you were not as agressive w/NOD32 as back 4yrs ago when you scared me into the ESET Oblivion! I walked away from all things Norton in 1998; I've lived well without since..... :)
Really wish I had a magic bullet here. I do not.
I have been waiting for something like this to pop up since may of US starting using "corporate" a/v packages. Unless NIS shares some simple "sleep-mode" process... I am clueless; other than just uninstall and tell the user, post repair, he/she needs to re-install their chosen a/v. Yes, really bad choice!
Sorry. I have been a/v neutral since ESET.
Best,
Duncan

disabling the AV's services, but I've found that when I do that with NIS
(surprise, suprise, it's a piece of crap) then it shuts down access to
the internet because it's firewall is off. Then I end up having to turn
the service back on (no small feat because the PoS tries to prevent
changes to it's service settings even though it's turned off.) Does
anyone know of a better way to disable AVs (especially NIS) without
uninstalling so that I can still access the internet?
