They're not insubstantially faster than the 2080 Super for one, there's some halo product $$$ going on, and also the die the thing is built on is ABSOLUTELY GIGANTIC, 775mm^2, can't be far off the maximum reticle size. cost per unit won't be cheap on Nvidia's end.
However Ampere can't be especially far away at this point, so don't jump on a Turing right now. :) On Fri, 10 Jul 2020 at 16:46, FORC5 <fuf...@cox.net> wrote: > anyone have a clue why the 2080Ti cards are > sooooooooooooooooooooo much more $$$ then > just a 2080 ULTRA (?) > > running a 1080Ti, happy I guess but with > SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much spare time ATM buying > stuff seems to be my new hobby. > > just updated my box to a BeQuiet dark base > 900, very heavy but nice case but then I > bought the extra stuff to convert it to rev 2 > ( with the Qi charger) with no glass. not > into RGB > > soon to be completely banana crazy. > > resistance is NOT futile > > fuf > >
