Some searching suggests that this board made extensive use of United Chemi-Con (generally speaking a top tier manufacturer) KZG series, which is known to be a poor performer. It's unfortunate that a top tier 'lytic manufacturer would produce (and supposedly continue to make) such an inferior line when the rest of their product lineup is beyond reproach, but I guess it does happen.
The M2N-E looks like it was $120 at launch.
