Subject: Re: [H] TV for my dad.

We had had a 50" Samsung plasma, and not have a Samsung 64" plasma and are
very satisfied with it. They have their own 3D glasses, with are optional,
of course. We have experienced no ghosting that is common in many LCDs. Our
old one had a 10K hours projected life time, this new one is over 100K hours
and draws less than half the power and runs much cooler. Some drawbacks, if
they are, you would need to cut down on the reflections, i.e., drapes
closed, lights off, or way down. They draw much more power than LCD. Major
plus, (some will disagree with this, I'm sure) plasmas have the best
pictures and colors over LCD. The new LED-LCD is very close, however. Bobby,
you should go somewhere that you can compare them side by side with the same
programs. You will see what I mean. BestBuy or Video Plus are, if you have
one, good places to compare as they have large displays. This is a very
personal purchase, if you like TV like I do, that will take some research.
We did a lot.

Hey everyone. Been looking for a TV for my dad. He wants something in the
55" range, but does not need a smart or 3d TV. I am currently looking at

ref=sr_1_4?s=tv&ie=UTF8&qid=1340057507&sr=1-4>
&ie=UTF8&qid=1340057507&sr=1-4

which is about what he would like to spend.

What do you all think about this TV?

I am also seeing a lot more plasma screens. I assume that they might be
improved over what there was before because of the abundance of them. Is
there any reason for me to favor a plasma over an LED lit TV?

Thanks,

Bobby
