Anand does a great job comparing SSDs as well. However, they--like Tom's--make decisions based on performance and price. They (understandably) don't generally incorporate field reliability data, as they can't control and test for it. I've seen too many failures and too much lost data due to shoddy controller firmware crashes - making this the most critical element in my own decision making. Performance is mostly irrelevant; the differences between the slowest modern and fastest SSDs may appear large on benchmarks, but are practically imperceptible except in some minor edge cases.
As with everything else, certainly use all resources available, just recognize their limitations. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Brian Weeden Sent: Sunday, June 24, 2012 10:33 AM To: [email protected] Cc: [email protected] Subject: Re: [H] SSDs Toms Hardware does a regular "Best SSD" guide for various price classes and sizes. ------- Brian Weeden Secure World Foundation +1 202 683-8534 On Jun 24, 2012, at 11:19, "Anthony Q.
