Brian,
Thank you for your link. I have never had to 'contact' Amazon about an order.
I used your link, and, DAMN! had a human on the phone immediately!
It appears that my order shipped from NYC on 9/19/12. It now sits in a USPS
distribution center in Baton Rouge, LA. I will just wait to see if this order arrives
in my GA mail box by 10/9/12.

Sadly, from discussion on our LIST, I do not need this order any way. I now OWN a
Windows HAL trouble! Fine. I needed a 'spare' anyway after 4 years of use!
Thanks again,
Duncan

No, but you can use this link and they will get back to you promptly:

Their preferred method of customer service is a text chat and I've had no
problem with it. In general, I have found Amazon's customer service to be
fantastic. I order a lot from Amazon (I'm a Prime member) and just a few
months ago I had a package that failed to arrive even after it was reported
delivered by UPS. I pinged Amazon and within 15 minutes I was chatting
with a customer service rep who sent me a replacement item, at no cost and
no questions asked, even though it was probably UPS's fault.

Do keep in mind that there is a difference between ordering something from
Amazon itself and someone is selling their stuff through Amazon's
Marketplace. In the latter case your mileage may vary as Amazon is really
just providing a platform for them to sell stuff. I don't buy a lot of
things from third parties on Amazon so I'm not sure how the customer
service works in that area.

Does Amazon.com have a Customer Service PHONE Number? I can not find one.

So, I did order a new (replacement) E8400, retail box, from Amazon.com.
Order placed
normally on 15SEP12, and, I know that my order will be filled by some
vendor called 'cravingsavings.'
From what I can see, this vendor appears to be an internal Amazon vendor.
Their 'webpage'
is only visible from within the Amazon webpage. OK.

This morning I get a shipping confirmation dated 19SEP12 from
'cravingsavings.' OK.
My order is shipping via the USPS. And, I have a USPS tracer #. OK. 4 days
have
passed since I raised this order on 15SEP12.

However, yesterday (the 19th), I check my mail, and find a brown envelope
from:
PCBOX
11600 Alondra Blvd, #F30
Norwalk, CA 90650-7010

In the envelope I find an invoice/packing slip (dated 16SEP12), and, a
small bubble-wrap with a
tube/syringe of 'Thermal Compound' taped to the outside. The bubble-wrap
appears to contain
a 'bulk' cpu. The invoice indicates a total (due?) of $124.99. There is no
email addy.
There is no phone number.
I am afraid to cut the bubble-wrap open. Let's say I am now confused!

Either my order has been filled, AND, Amazon owes me and $89.00 refund, or,
I will soon own 2 C2D E8400's (spares) for $338.98.
BTW, Amazon.com already hit my CC for $213.99, and, this is now my current
bill amount!
The closing date for this CC was 17SEP12.
Thanks,
Duncan
