I personally find this discussion perplexing. For more than twenty years I have missed almost every Fathers' Day with my family because it uncannily coincided with AJL Convention.
When I asked (a number of years ago) why, davka, our Convention is held the third weekend in June, I was told, "In order to accommodate the SSC librarians, so many of whom cannot get off until the term ends."]!
