I have a high school student who is researching the eye. He heard
somewhere that the Vilna Gaon said that since the Hebrew word for
"eye" is "ayin" there are seventy nerves, veins and/or muscles in the
eye. He is trying to find out if this is true.

Does anyone know if the Vilna Gaon really said this and where he
could find the text and if the nerves, veins and/or muscles actually
do add up to seventy and how (he has checked Gray's Anatomy and spoke
with some doctors but no one could help him)

Thank you all so much -

Chag Chanukah Sameach and Shabbat Shalom -
