Hi there Safranim I am pleased to announce that on the 14th of December 2007, at the Kaplan Centre for Jewish Studies and Research, at the University of Cape Town, my English translation of the well known South African Yiddish writer, Leibl Feldman's Yidn in Yohanesburg biz Yunyon, 31 May 1910 was launched. Entitled: The Jews of Johannesburg, until Union, 31 May 1910, it is Feldman's most ambitious work, and was originally published by the South African Yiddish Cultural Federation in 1956. Feldman quotes liberally from the early Yiddish press, and includes much new information formerly inaccessible because of the barrier of the language. It is preceded by a historical introduction and is a valuable addition to South African Jewish historiography.
