Hi, Andrea.

Recently this has become of interest in genealogical circles. One
great source is always Abe Lavender of FIU. Here is one of his
papers, and there is more information at the Society of Crypto-Judaic
Studies, http://cryptojews.com, which pubishes HaLapid.

He is also involved in the new scholarly journal on Sephardic issues.

One researcher - who reports regularly on some Sephardic lists - is
currently doing extensive research in Quebec and northern New York
state on Jewish names in non-Jewish cemeteries.
