Hi Everyone, Chag Sameach! For the past 5 years, our institution has been organizing "Let's Talk about it"--Jewish Literature readings and discussions focusing on various themes. For example, this year's theme has been Fathers and Daughters in a Changing World and the five books we are reading are: Tevye the Dairiyman (Sholem Aleichem), Bread Givers (Yezierska), 1185 Park Avenue: A Memoir (Roiphe), American Pastoral (Roth), and Bee Season (Goldberg). I am writing to ask your collective wisdom about suggestions for other Jewish literary themes and some titles of books, especially novels that spotlight the theme and that you consider good reading. One theme we are seriously considering is the theme of "Jews from other lands." Any suggestions you offer are greatly appreciated.
