It's been a while since I've read it, but how about "Davita's Harp", by Chaim Potok? It opened some different sides of Judaism to me, and I still find myself thinking about some aspects of it.

For example, this year's theme has been Fathers and Daughters in a Changing World and the five books we are reading are: Tevye the Dairiyman (Sholem Aleichem), Bread Givers (Yezierska), 1185 Park Avenue: A Memoir (Roiphe), American Pastoral (Roth), and Bee Season (Goldberg). I am writing to ask your collective wisdom about suggestions for other Jewish literary themes and some titles of books, especially novels that spotlight the theme and that you consider good reading.
