Project Archivist

The Jewish Theological Seminary (JTS) is currently searching for a part-time ( 
24 hours per week)  archivist for one year at The JTS Library. The archivist 
will be responsible for the retrospective conversion of electronic archival 
finding aids and related documents to EAD, and the input analog finding aids to 
Archivist Toolkit. The grant-funded position commences in April 2015 and runs 
for 12 months is under the supervision of the Administrative Librarian for 
Special Collections.

The Library of The Jewish Theological Seminary holds the foremost collection of 
Judaica and Hebraica in the Western Hemisphere, including manuscripts, rare 
printed books, periodicals, ephemeral materials, musical scores, sound 
recordings, moving images, graphic arts, and archives. It provides access to 
subscription databases and to its digital collections. The JTS Library serves 
the students and faculty of the institution in addition to the international

Duties/Responsibilities:

*       Collecting all electronic and analog data related to 400+ archival 
collections

*       Conversion of archival finding aids, collection level records in MARC21 
format and analog finding aids to EAD using Archivist Toolkit.


Minimum Requirements:



*       MS in Library and Information Services with a concentration in archives 
or Archival Records Management.

*       One year's experience in working with Archivist Toolkit, EAD and DACS 
standards.

*       Experience working with digital objects

*       Experience work with social networking

*       Reading knowledge of Hebrew and European languages preferred.

*       Familiarity with modern Jewish History is preferred.

*       Excellent organizational skills, flexibility, interpersonal skills and 
demonstrated commitment to excellent service.

*       Demonstrated ability to perform detailed tasks
