This book sounds like what you are looking for, but it is considerably older than you said, published originally in 1979. I used to give it as a bar/bat mitzvah present often years ago. It was re-issued in a severely cut down version (only 36 people not 100) more recently. Sadly, both are long out of print, but may possibly be found in used book stores. I don't remember if it was arranged by subject categories or not. It would be nice if someone would update it and re-issue it. If the book you are looking for was really only 10 years old or so, this is not it. But since no one else has yet identified it, I am throwing this title out there for consideration.
