*AJL Presents: 50 Years of the Genizah Research Unit
Wednesday, May 29, 2024
9:00 am PT / noon ET / 7:00 pm Israel Time

The Genizah Research Unit is responsible for all aspects of curating the
enormous Cairo Genizah Collections of medieval Jewish manuscripts held in
Cambridge University Library. This unit was formed in 1974 as The
Taylor-Schechter Genizah Research Unit. Over the course of the next 50 years,
the Unit, as it is affectionately known, produced scholarship across many
disciplines and became one of the great pioneers in digital humanities with the
digitization of the fragments. Come learn from three scholars (Ben Outhwaite,
Nick Posegay, and Rebecca Jefferson) on the amazing Genizah Research Unit.

This event is sponsored by AJL's RAS Division and is open to members and the
public.
