Dear Rebekah,

I can recommend Joshua Teplitsky's course - I know him well, and he's an
excellent teacher, well versed in Jewish book history (full disclosure: I
also co-direct a project

that focuses on the movement of the early printed Jewish book :) ). I know
others on this list have indeed taken this course and enjoyed it, and they
can chime in directly as well.

As far as learning: I co-teach a regular course at Columbia called Jewish
Book Cultures in Early Modern Europe. For that, I adapted

Nielsen's excellent libguide for Jewish book history for Columbia; it's a
constant work in progress, but hopefully will have some resources to get
you started. When we taught it during covid, I created a site

some basic resources - it needs some updating, but might be useful as well.

Unfortunately there isn't a single book that provides a good comprehensive
overview (yet), but the Encyclopedia of Jewish Book Cultures

with many essays on the major topics in the field.

I'm also happy to be in touch if I can be of any help in this area!

With best wishes,
Michelle
