Dear Elaine,

I saw your question on Ha-Safran.
Elie Wiesel's novel *Un di velt hot geshvign *was also serialized in the
Forverts (Jewish Daily Forward)
<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://www.nli.org.il/en/newspapers/frw?&e=-------en-20--1--img-txIN*7CtxTI--------------1__;JQ!!KGKeukY!xOc0VA-p2Q1bKAdqyAsawwnmuBH6ygEzVxRJlOX4J3qxNrLwruecGyf8rGP7Rtjrs6qyFSPMn8q7N0K-kczd15fTyg$

which is now available online through the Historical Jewish Press Project.
The installments were published on an almost-daily basis from April 16,
1965 through June 6, 1965, usually on p.2. I haven't compared the text
closely with the 1956 Buenos Aires version that you cited, though.
I compiled a bibliography in the article, "Elie Wiesel at the Forverts: A
Bibliography
<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://ingeveb.org/pedagogy/elie-wiesel-at-the-forverts-a-bibliography__;!!KGKeukY!xOc0VA-p2Q1bKAdqyAsawwnmuBH6ygEzVxRJlOX4J3qxNrLwruecGyf8rGP7Rtjrs6qyFSPMn8q7N0K-kcwCuahlTQ$
 >"
published in In Geveb and this includes a link to a spreadsheet with
bibliographic data on Wiesel's writing for the Forverts between 1956 and
1967

.
I hope this helps.

Sincerely,

Amanda

Subject: [ha-Safran] Elie Wiesel's Un di velt hot geshvign

Hello All,

A patron is looking for the original Yiddish version of Elie Wiesel’s Un di
velt hot geshvign (And the world remained silent), published in Buenos
Aires in 1956. It was later translated into French as “La nuit, ” then into
English as “Night.” It initially was published as part of a series, *Dos
Poylishe Yidntum*; *Polish Jewry *(#117), edited by Mark Turkov. Until
recently, the original was available digitally on the Yiddish Book Center
website, but that title is no longer active.

Any ideas about where it may be available in digital format?

Thanks.

Elaine
