What are they looking for in a "children's" Bible? There is a one-volume Artscroll Tanach edition that might work. It only has the English text (for public school kids?). It's a Jewish translation (not KJV) and it is somewhat more readable than some other editions (better for kids). One volume (more affordable). It contains the complete Bible (not only some books).
