I suppose a question is how detailed should the Tanakh be for that age group.
There are several abridged options, including illustrated and comic book format.
DK put out a decent Jewish version of their illustrated bible for kids that
includes sidebars about life in the ancient Middle East: The Children's
Illustrated Jewish Bible
There's also The JPS Illustrated Children's Bible by Ellen Frankel with single
or double page contained stories.
The Kids' Cartoon Bible by Chaya Burstein is always a huge favorite with the
kids in our religious school.
Finally, In the Beginning: My Storybook Bible by Jonathan Schmidt Chapman only
focuses on Torah, but the format treats Torah like an illustrated chapter book,
appropriate for 2nd-3rd graders.
Hope that helps,Rachel

The DK published Jewish Bible I read was using King James’s translation for the
text, and Koren is pricey and provides only some of the books. So I am looking
for any other options to recommend.
Thank you,
