Please, I hope you are kidding about this!!  This "mode" stuff is
ridiculous; a function have one meaning and one meaning only.  Feel free
to use this kind of programming yourself, but don't try to force it on
the rest of us in the Prelude.

You seem to think there are too many names defined in the Prelude, and
are looking for ways to reduce the number of names.  I don't think many
Haskell users agree that we need to reduce the number of names; I
certainly don't.

To the haskell list: please don't let it appear that you accept this by
failing speak out against it!
