If I were choosing the key combination for Application Quit and trying to make it probable that you would close your application when you don't want to, I might chose a key combination which was very similar to some very useful existing key combinations. Like maybe the application-switching combo, or the tab-closing combo, or the save-now combo, or the select-all combo.
