Yeah, and I don't see the point of using something at the XMMS
feature level. I used to have bmp around until I noticed that
I never used it any more because I'd make a terminal window and
launch mplayer instead -- less hassle, no GUI, and I don't care
about the missing "features", it turns out.

True, but it's just a bunch of crap in a terminal window or
virtual console that I don't look at and that I close after use.

I don't use any, and I don't give a hoot that I can optionally
make the thing more hateful.

Mplayer is tolerable not because it's actually good, but by
virtue of passively sucking in easily ignored ways -- unlike all
the other players that actively shove their suckage in my face.
