Hi folks,
just to support Jiri's case, preserving the order of primary partitions
and "unknown" flags in MBR is indeed necessary. Even if modern OSes can
use filesystem labels and UUIDs to identify their filesystems and are no
longer picky about the flags, many people still choose for various
reasons to rely on the explicit ordering and flags.
The label editor might have an explicit command for sorting the
partition entries or pruning "unknown" records (and this might be
actually quite handy in certain cases), but generally it should not
touch anything that is not strictly necessary to touch.
To paraphrase Jiri's takeaway: Be permissive on the input, but
conservative on the output.
