For the record, I was watching the changes closely until about two weeks or so ago and I quite liked them. The whole series starts with a nice cleanup/handlification of the interface and the code and it seemed reasonable to me.
Note that I have almost no major objections against the changes in the VFS server (except the pipes). At the very least the cleanups and handlifications are definitively worth cherrypicking.
However, merging the entire branch as-is now is a different story and I have already spoken my objections against it given the current state.
I can't see why we are discussing this topic here at this moment and why the branch added a comment of this sort (i.e. quite off-topic) in the first place. The more focused the changes are the better.
The discussion is indeed off-topic, but then again the change in the branch is as well.
