I've just commited the WIP commit which introduces EDID support to vesafb driver. Driver doesn't yet build avaliable mode list, based on BIOS & monitor supported modes; it just writes mode lists to log.
I just did a quick test on my Mac Pro with ATI Radeon 4850 (with a Samsung SyncMaster 203B). The 19 printed modes from the EDID data seem reasonable.
I am just a bit puzzled by the fact that the log contains 8 identical outputs for 8 controllers (0 to 7), but the monitor is only connected to a single CRTC. But maybe I just misunderstood the terminology.
I'll test the code on my other machines soon and I also plan to review your code to give you some final pushes before the coding period ends (sorry for the delay, last week was a busy week).
