why are you downloading this old version? I had been using this for years but switched to "standard" Windows Emacs few years ago without problems. Latest version: https://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/emacs/windows/emacs-24.4-bin-i686-pc-mingw32.zip Regards, Rainer Stengele
