Has anybody else gotten random errors from Heroku's database? I have been having problems for a while now and am out of ideas so I am hoping someone can help me. Here is the info I have:
* Randomly various SQL queries will fail to execute. I get back the following error: PGError: server closed the connection unexpectedly The query won't be anything special and will work most of the time. But occasionally the app just seems to loose it's connection to the database. * I have not see much reported by others but there is some reports of it. See: http://groups.google.com/group/heroku/browse_thread/thread/efc8c6d9eafc5e93/7c9499b452cbea43 * I get this same error on more than one application that I run so I don't think it is something the app is doing. * At least one of my apps is a paying app (i.e. has 2 persistent dynos) so I don't think it has anything to do with spinning up or down. * I have reported the issue to Heroku and they have confirmed that this is a known issue but they gave the following flippant response: This is a known issue. We're looking into it. It should be harmless - your client should reopen the connection When I queried further as to how I should go about doing this and should I resubmit queries, etc I get no response from them. * These apps do not get much usage so I know it is not a case of over- utilization. * I first reported this issue to them on May 12, 2010 and as of today (Aug 9, 2010) I still have no resolution. Each time I get the error I append the full debug info to the ticket (I am using the Exception Notifier gem so I just send them what my apps sends me). The following are the dates I got errors to give you an idea of how often I am getting them on an app that gets maybe a dozen or two requests a day: - May-13 2010 - May-14 2010 - May-26 2010 - Jun-03 2010 - Jun-07 2010 - Jun-14 2010 - Jun-18 2010 - Jun-24 2010 - Jul-14 2010 - Jul-19 2010 : 2 this day - Jul-22 2010 : 4 this day - Jul-27 2010 : 4 this day - Jul-28 2010 - Jul-29 2010 : 4 this day - Aug-03 2010 - Aug-06 2010 - Aug-09 2010 : 4 this day Does anybody have any suggestions. Is there anything else I could post that might be helpful. Since Heroku support has been non-responsive this is really my last hope. If I can't find a resolution I am just going to have to give up on Heroku and take my money elsewhere. Does anybody have any suggestions for a good alternative to Heroku? -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Heroku" group.
